Driver Training Program

An inexperienced driver will typically advance through the following steps on their way to achieving Professional Driver status at Transport America:

Phase 1 - During this six day period your time will be spent between classroom and road and range training. Classroom time will be spent developing your knowledge of safety procedures, freight handling, trip planning, DOT motor carrier rules and Transport America company policies.
During orientation you will drive Transport America company equipment and will hone your driving skills on the road, and also those more challenging slow maneuvers.

Phase II - On the road with one of our qualified Driver instructors for approximately four weeks. During this time you will gain experience and confidence in your driving ability. When both you and your instructor determine that you are ready, you will be released into solo status and start your career as a Professional driver.

Earn While You Learn
Transport America will provide transportation to and from our orientation site and provide you with room and board during the 6-day stay. What's more, you will earn $350 for completing orientation and $350 for each week you are on the road with your Driver Instructor.
